ISLAMABAD: The Environment Wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking proactive measures to address environmental pollution in the city of Islamabad.
As part of their initiatives, a public awareness walk is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
According to sources, the walk aims to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of ineffective and invasive plants on the environment and human health.
From 4 to 5 pm on Wednesday, various areas of the city, including Trail Five (5) Margalla Hills and the National Park, will be the starting points for the awareness campaign.
The focus will be on highlighting the importance of a healthy environment by planting useful species of plants and trees while minimizing the presence of harmful plants.
Specifically, efforts will be made to gradually eradicate paper mulberry plants and replace them with indigenous local plants.
The officials said that the participation of individuals from both private and public institutions is encouraged to ensure a broad public engagement in the campaign.
In addition to the awareness walk, citizens will receive information about the benefits of useful and human-friendly plants.
This interactive approach aims to ensure that the planted trees and plants benefit everyone in the community.
Furthermore, the Environment Wing will organize a public hearing on Monday, July 10 at Gandhara Citizens Club, F-9 Park, Islamabad, from 10 am to 12 pm.
The purpose of this hearing is to provide citizens from all walks of life with an opportunity to express their thoughts and views on the eradication of wild plants and poisonous herbs.
