CM Gives Go-Ahead to Phase-2 of Press Club Housing Scheme

LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, while presiding over the 10th meeting of the Punjab Journalist Housing Foundation (PJHF), announced the start of the second phase of the Lahore Press Club (LPC) Housing Scheme.

According to the details, the CM indicated that 500 Kanal of land would be set aside in the tehsil Cantt for the allocation of 5 Marla plots in the Ashiana Housing Scheme.

Furthermore, the illegal allotment of 15 plots in LPC’s B-Block was also canceled during the meeting, emphasizing that the plots would be transparently distributed to the B-legitimate Block’s applicants.

Additionally, he instructed the police to expel the illegal residents of B-Block in the Press Club Housing Scheme, while assuring that the affectees would be accorded their due process rights.

Besides, the chief minister stated that 468 plots of 5 Marlas each would be provided under the Faisalabad Press Club housing program and requested suggestions to conclude the allotment at the earliest.

The CM also waived the PJHF from paying the Finance department the interest amount due of Rs. 35 crores, adding that a housing program for journalists was launched 18 years ago and announced the plan to gradually roll out housing programs for journalists in other areas.

He stated that to help journalists in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan realize their dream of owning a house, hundreds of plots had been given to them.
