CM KP Orders to Expedite Work on Roads to Tourist Destinations

PESHAWAR: On Monday, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan issued instructions to officials to speed up the construction of approach roads to tourism locations and the restoration of ancient sites around the province.

According to a statement, he gave the orders while being in charge of a conference to examine the status of the construction of the road to tourist resorts and the repair of ancient sites.

To boost tourism in the province and draw in both domestic and foreign visitors, the chief minister informed the gathering that significant investments had been made during the previous four years.

According to him, the development of the tourist sector as an industry will not only guarantee income creation but also open up prospects for residents to make a living.

He claimed to be personally keeping an eye on the tourist industry’s growth initiatives as he authorized the creation of walking trails on a need basis.

Furthermore, Mankyal and Thandiani roads are now being renovated and restored, which would cost Rs.3.4 and Rs. 2.5 billion, respectively, will be finished by October 2024.

In the Hazara division:

  • 38% of the work on the Mandi Mali road has been finished
  • 54% on the Shogran road, 30% on the Ghanool Paprang road
  • 41% of the Manoor Valley route
  • 31% of the Nawazabad-Mundi road has made progress

These initiatives will be finished this year for a total price of Rs. 4.6 billion.

In the Malakand division:

  • Kafir Banda Road has advanced by 41%
  • Burj Banda Road by 61%
  • Dag Sar Charoona Road by 40%
  • Chail Beshigram Road by 50%
  • Bela Beshigram Road by 29%
  • Areen Daral Road by 36%
  • Madian-Bishigram Road by 35%
  • Anakar Road by 23%
  • Marghuzar-Elum Road by 49%

The total cost of these projects is Rs4.8 billion, and they will be finished this year.

The meeting was informed that initiatives were being launched in the province to encourage religious and cultural travel.

Additionally, 3 museums, 2 stupas, and 2 mosques are all undergoing restoration and reconstruction.

The pre-feasibility of the Kumrat Madakalasht cable car project has made significant progress, the CM briefed.

According to Khan, tourism police will look out for travelers and tourist destinations and that integrated tourism zones were being established for the promotion of eco-friendly tourism, which was the first of its kind initiative in the history of the province.
