LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi approved the development of an underground public transportation system for Lahore, which would be accomplished with the support and finances from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The project will feature the creation of eight significant stations for the Orange Line train, running from Valencia Town through Karma Chowk, Liberty Chowk, and Data Darbar up to the airport.
The government has also authorized the Planning and Development (P&D) Board and the Transport Department to negotiate technical assistance and funding with the ADB.
The project is expected to greatly impact Lahore’s public transportation system, providing commuters with a safe and efficient form of transit.
The proposed subterranean mass transportation system is expected to help decrease traffic congestion and air pollution in the city and provide faster and more comfortable travel for locals and visitors.
