LAHORE: As the government wants to industrialize Punjab to boost the regional economy, foreign investors will now be free to operate in the province.
As per the details, the Punjab government in a meeting chose to lease industrial plots to international investors for which a thorough and appealing leasing policy will be created.
The discussion covered the issues of plot price, industrial estate colonization, and infrastructure provision.
Senior Minister, Mian Aslam Iqbal noted that the Special Economic Zones in Punjab are major drivers of economic growth and should be given top attention for industrialization.
He added that the industrialization process can be accelerated to provide more work possibilities.
The minister also promised that the purchasers of industrial estate plots would come to a thorough agreement, and urged local investors to get involved.
Aslam Iqbal also mandated that the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) undergo a specific examination and modernization, suggesting that industrial estate infrastructure development and the industrialization process must be sped up.
Moreover, the aforementioned idea may produce returns that would help the economy as a whole as well as industries like agriculture, he added.
The minister assured that many development prospects will be created as a result of the removal of barriers and the creation of an environment that is fair for international real estate investors, while also expanding the options for increasing the nation’s FX cover.
