CM Sindh Orders Property Survey by Next Month

KARACHI: Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, gave the competent authorities instructions to begin the property survey in Karachi the next month.

He instructed staff to do this during a meeting with a World Bank team that was held at Chief Minister House.

Sindh underwent its most recent property survey in 2001 when Property tax collection was transferred to the district administration under the local government statute of the then-president, General Pervez Musharraf.

Besides, the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) project, worth $240 million and supported by the World Bank Group, aims to implement radical infrastructure changes in the city with a focus on improving the effectiveness of the local government delivery system.

The upgrading of the urban property tax system is one of the project’s components, hence the provincial government has chosen to carry out the property survey in Karachi.

The gathering was informed that the technical parts of the city’s property survey were currently being worked on as theĀ chief minister gave the go-ahead to start the property survey process next month.

Furthermore, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board’s ongoing operation to restore damaged water pipes was also discussed with the meeting’s attendees.

Building the Jam Sadiq Bridge, Murad Ali Shah also gave the order to shortly publish the tender for the city’s Jam Sadiq Bridge development.

Additionally, the final steps of the tendering process for the rehabilitation of the Jam Sadiq Bridge were disclosed to the chief minister.

The CM said that the review meeting was called to quicken project progress and address issues that had arisen.

The Sindh Solar Project’s Manjhnand location was chosen, and PC 1 of the project was forwarded to the Pakistani Planning Commission for approval, it was also disclosed during the meeting.

Provincial Ministers Dr. Azra Pechuho, Sharjeel Memon, Mukesh Chawla, Sardar Shah, Imtiaz Sheikh, Jam Khan Shoro, and Haris Gazder, as well as the chief secretary Sohail Rajput, the chairman of P&D Hasan Naqvi, and the principal secretary Fayaz Jatoi, assisted the chief minister.
