RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Commissioner, Liaquat Ali Chatta, has announced that the construction of the Dadocha and Mahota dams in the Rawalpindi district will help alleviate the water shortage in the area.
According to sources, the Commissioner has formed a task force to address any problems that may arise during the construction of the reservoirs.
The task force, comprising an assistant commissioner, a XEN Small Dam, an Acting Director of Water Management, and three local farmers, will present a detailed report on any issues they face during construction to the Commissioner next week.
Moreover, the Commissioner has stressed the importance of saving rainwater by building new water reservoirs, as the increasing demand for water for agriculture, industry, and drinking is causing a rapid decrease in groundwater levels.
Besides, 5 dams in Rawalpindi district, including the Dadocha and Mahota dams, are included in the annual development program, with varying levels of physical progress.
