Commissioner Takes Action Against Delays in Development Works in Gujar Khan

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha has issued show-cause notices to the chief officer and executive engineer of Gujar Khan District Council for significant delays in the execution of development schemes in the district.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Chattha to assess the progress of development projects in the Kontrilla union council.

Several officials, including Director Development Nazia Parveen Sudhan, Director Health Dr. Ansar Ishaq, Superintendent Engineer Highway-I, Superintendent Engineer Building-I, Executive Engineer Local Government and Community Development, and representatives from other relevant departments, attended the meeting.

The commissioner emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated when it comes to development works.

He urged the officials to ensure that all projects are completed within the specified time frame and that funds are utilized appropriately without compromising on quality.

Commissioner Chattha also stressed the importance of constructing pavements along roads, even in remote areas, as it contributes to the durability of the infrastructure.

Additionally, he emphasized the need for proper road maintenance, highlighting that repairs are often neglected due to a lack of available funds.

During the briefing on various schemes, Director Development Nazia Parveen Sudhan provided updates on the Kontrilla projects, which include the upgradation of a basic health center in Gujar Khan and the construction of a public park-cum-playground, among other ongoing works.

She also informed the meeting that a graveyard scheme in the same union council has been submitted for approval by the Divisional Development Committee.

Furthermore, Sudhan mentioned the inclusion of the construction and repair of a 29.8 km-long road from Gujar Khan to Pir Phulai and the widening and repair of the Nyan Ban to Kaholi Hameed Road in the scheme.
