Commissioner Warns Metropolitan Corporation Against Corruption

MULTAN: Commissioner of Multan Division, Engineer Amir Khattak, has warned officials of the Metropolitan Corporation (MC) to avoid corruption and extortion.

Khattak presided over a meeting where he discussed improving the performance of the MC in delivering services and public facilitation, stating that a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and extortion would be adopted.

The commissioner ordered a crackdown on illegal constructions and directed relevant officers to seal the buildings after serving notices to owners.

He also called for a crackdown against encroachments and wall chalking, which have destroyed the city’s beauty.

Besides, the commissioner also gave relevant officers the responsibility of ensuring that streetlights are functional to control street crime.

The commissioner also set recovery targets for professional fees and ordered a crackdown on encroachments at graveyards.

He sought a list of revenue records and the land of graveyards, warning that illegal slaughterhouses would not be tolerated and violators would be dealt with under the law action.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Multan Omer Jehangir, Director of Development Robina Kausar, CEO of Metropolitan Corporation Chaudhry Farmaish, and other relevant officers.
