Concerned Departments Set Responsibilities for Margalla Hill National Park Demarcation

ISLAMABAD: The Margalla Hill National Park (MHNP) is set to be demarcated in compliance with the judgment dated 11th January 2022 in Writ Petition No. 4245/2014 titled Professor Lahti Haig Mirza vs. CDA etc.

The completion of this task was discussed in a meeting held in the office of Director (L&R), CDA, where the responsibilities and duties of the concerned departments were outlined.

The meeting highlighted the responsibilities and duties of the concerned departments in demarcating the MHNP.

The CDA Land Rehabilitation Department is responsible for identifying the acquired land included in MHNP and providing assistance in physical demarcation.

They are also required to identify reference points as per revenue records and provide security cover to the demarcation team. The timeline for their work is 1.5 weeks, which is set to be completed between 15th March to 3rd April.

The CDA Environment Wing will lead the demarcation process and provide records regarding MHNP, Reserved Forest, and Military farms.

They will also provide ground assistance to the demarcation team and identify ground points. The timeline for their work is one week, which is set to be completed between 3rd April to 10th April.

The Survey of Pakistan will complete work at the office with CDA Land, Environment & ICT (Revenue) within three weeks, starting from 15th March to 10th April. They will also conduct physical demarcation work, which will begin after Eid and will continue for four weeks.

The demarcation of the MHNP is a crucial task, and all concerned departments are working diligently to complete their responsibilities within the set timeline.

This demarcation process will ensure the protection of the MHNP, which is an essential part of Pakistan’s natural heritage.
