LAHORE: An accountability court has adjourned the proceedings about Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others until March 18.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had alleged that Shehbaz and other accused persons caused a huge loss to the national exchequer by awarding the contract of the housing scheme to a company without bidding.
The court allowed a one-day exemption to Ahad Khan Cheema from personal appearance.
Cheema was arrested by NAB on February 21, 2018, on charges of misusing his authority with criminal intent and awarding Rs. 14 billion contracts of the Ashiana-i-Iqbal housing scheme.
The bureau also alleged that Cheema received illegal gratification in reward for the contract of the housing scheme.
It is worth noting that Fawad Hassan Fawad, former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, is also accused in this reference.
