NAB Shuts Down 2 Inquiries in Illegal Land Allotment Cases Against PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Following changes to NAB legislation, the accountability watchdog has closed another 2 corruption investigations involving the Punjab Governor Mian Balighur Rehman and Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif.

Sources claim that the NAB has ended its inquiry into the current premier and Governor of Punjab following a three-year investigation that yielded no evidence of any wrongdoing.

According to sources, NAB Chairman Aftab Sultan has given the go-ahead for the investigations into the NAB Executive Board’s findings to be closed. They claimed that NAB had opened investigations in 2019 for the transfer of 14,400 Kanal of state lands.

The details show that the NAB Multan had previously called former Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and sent him a questionnaire regarding the transfer of state land.

The sources also claimed that the matter would now be investigated by the Punjab Revenue Authority due to changes in NAB laws, and the NAB chairman has referred the case to the Senior Member Board of Revenue.
