Crackdown Against Property Tax Defaulters Begins

LAHORE: Due to the non-receipt of billions of rupees in taxes from property owners, a check of land records for past dues of Rs. 21 billion was initiated across the province.

According to Excise Headquarters, the property tax of Rs. 21 billion from Punjab, including Rs. 9 billion from Lahore, has not been collected.

Excise Headquarters has begun working in specific zones to tighten the noose around property tax defaulters and those who have not paid their dues for many years, said the sources.

The auditing of records and a secret survey are being conducted in all districts of Punjab, including Lahore, to recover outstanding debts.
