Dadocha Dam’s Construction Set to Begin Soon

RAWALPINDI: The Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, Liaquat Ali Chatta, has announced that the construction work on the Dadocha Dam will soon recommence, with a commitment to completing the project within the specified timeline.

According to sources, he emphasized the Punjab government’s keen interest in water supply initiatives.

Commending the local population, particularly residents of Barwala, including Azari Sehal, Malikpur, Azizal, and Khanpur areas, for their patriotism and sacrifices, Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta assured that their contributions would be duly acknowledged.

He added that in line with the Supreme Court’s decision and the directives of the Punjab caretaker government, affected residents will receive compensation based on current market rates for their land.

The Commissioner stressed the importance of collective efforts from the district administration and the public to ensure the project’s success, which aims to secure a clean water source for future generations.

The Dadocha Dam, located 25 kilometers from Rawalpindi, is planned to reach a height of 123 feet.

Upon completion, it is expected to provide Rawalpindi city with a daily supply of 35 million gallons of water, primarily benefiting domestic consumers.

The dam’s construction will facilitate clean water access for residents of Rawalpindi, Cantt, and neighboring areas, aligning with the Supreme Court’s decision.

Besides, Chattha also noted the urgency of building the dam as a crucial need for the community and called for careful planning by the Development and Finance Department in collaboration with the FWO (Frontier Works Organization).
