DC Seeks Report from Education Office Over Dilapidated School Building

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi’s Deputy Commissioner (DC), Capt. (Ret.) Shoaib, requested a report from the district’s elementary education officer on the state of the Government Primary School’s deteriorating structure in Band, Tehsil Kahuta.

Additionally, the District Officer (DO) Elementary Education went to Band and looked at the school structure, which had developed cracks and might now endanger the lives of pupils and employees.

The sources said that the DO informed DC that new classroom construction and remodeling would be finished by the end of July 2023.

Furthermore, Tariq Murtaza, the chairman of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), had also promised DC Rawalpindi that he would work to restore the destroyed Kahuta educational institution’s building.

It should be mentioned that the administration is forcing dozens of pupils to attend courses outside since there aren’t enough classrooms and the buildings are damaged in the frigid weather.

It’s interesting to note that in 2017, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab at the time, MPA Raja Muhammad Ali, was able to provide Rs. 2.3 million for the construction of 2 classrooms in the school building.

The rooms, however, could not be added subsequently and the school now has 86 pupils registered (male and female), while there are only 3 classrooms that can accommodate them.

The locals say that the school’s structure was completely ruined and that the likelihood of its collapse had greatly increased.
