District Administration Struggles to Retrieve State Land in Rahim Yar Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The district administration in Rahim Yar Khan has been unable to retrieve three acres of state land valued at PKR 95 million from land grabbers in Chak 78-P for a development project.

As per the details, the land, owned by the Board of Revenue, is located near the Gulberg Executive Housing Society on Shahi Road and has been used for a cattle pen for years.

It was shared that some influential farmers in the village have been slowly seizing the land and converting it into cattle yards by storing cotton plants.

Additionally, some residents of the neighboring Kachi Abadi have illegally built houses on two acres.

Recently, local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Shafiq Chenab approved PKR 40 million for constructing a dispensary, cemented cattle pond, graveyard, and Eidgah on the land.

Still, the project was met with resistance from the land grabbers, and construction was forcibly stopped.

The villagers have accused the influential farmers of not wanting to vacate the state land because of its high value.

They have expressed concern about the district administration’s inability to retrieve the land, questioning how the contractor would be able to complete the development project.
