Excise Department to Take Strict Measures Against 25,000 Defaulters

MULTAN: The Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Department are gearing up to take decisive legal measures against 25,000 defaulters to recover approximately Rs400 million in arrears and pending dues starting from August.

Khalid Hussain Qasoori, District Officer Admin/ETO Property Wing, addressed the media on Tuesday, revealing that warning notices were issued to the defaulters for their outstanding payments.

However, these defaulters failed to submit the dues within the specified deadline.

The department plans to issue arrest warrants, seal properties, and undertake confiscation procedures to ensure compliance.

Qasoori strongly urged the defaulters to promptly settle their arrears and pending dues to avoid inconvenience.

The provincial government has also announced an attractive incentive for taxpayers. A

Furthermore, a 10 percent rebate offer is applicable for those who submit property tax through E-payment, while a 5 percent rebate is available for payments made through banks until September 30.

With approximately 150,000 property taxpayers across the district, the department is set to issue challans to all property tax owners.

To ensure transparency, the excise department staff will conduct door-to-door visits to distribute the challans and upload relevant information into the system by capturing images of the property and its owner.

Besides, the excise officials have encouraged domestic consumers and the business community to seize this opportunity and avail of the provincial government’s E-payment option to submit their property taxes before the September deadline.
