MULTAN: The Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics department have announced their intent to take stringent legal action against 25,000 defaulters to recover approximately Rs. 400 million in arrears and pending dues starting from next month August.

According to sources, Khalid Hussain Qasoori, District Officer Admin/ETO Property Wing, informed on Tuesday that warning notices were previously served to the defaulters, urging them to pay their dues within the specified deadline.

However, as they failed to comply, the department is now prepared to issue arrest warrants, seal properties, and carry out confiscations to recover the outstanding amounts.

Besides, Qasoori also appealed to the defaulters to clear their arrears and pending dues as soon as possible to avoid any inconveniences or legal actions.

Moreover, the provincial government has announced a 10 percent rebate offer for property tax payments made through E-payment and an additional 5 percent rebate for payments through banks until September 30.

The district currently has 150,000 property taxpayers, and the excise department plans to issue challans to all property tax owners soon.

To ensure transparency, the department staff will go door-to-door to distribute the challans and capture images of the property owners and properties for record-keeping.

The excise official encouraged both domestic consumers and the business community to seize the opportunity provided by the provincial government and submit their property taxes through E-payment before the September deadline.
