Excise Officials Crack Down on Vehicle Tax Defaulters

LAHORE: On Sunday, excise officials thoroughly inspected vehicles passing through Canal Road near EME Society.

As a result, hundreds of defaulting vehicles were impounded, and tax recovery operations were underway.

Secretary of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Masood Mukhtar, and Director General Muhammad Ali made surprise visits to the blockade at EME Society point to assess the situation.

The Excise staff checked all vehicles passing through Canal Road, taking strict action against defaulters and ensuring tax recovery.

Secretary Masood Mukhtar commended the efforts of the staff and instructed the officers of the Excise and Taxation (ET) department to continue the operation against vehicles that have defaulted on token tax and registration fees.

Additionally, DG Muhammad Ali announced the intensification of the campaign against defaulting vehicles until June 30.

Furthermore, DG Ali urged officers to take firm action against property tax defaulters.

He emphasized the sealing of commercial buildings with outstanding dues and requested directors across the province to provide daily recovery reports.

Before their field visit, Secretary Masood Mukhtar and DG Muhammad Ali also visited the recovery monitoring cell, where they received a briefing from Additional DGET Ahmed Saeed.

The Secretary of Excise instructed Excise & Taxation Officers in Sialkot, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi Zone-II to enhance their performance and meet the set targets.
