Federal Ombudsman Summons CDA to Address Grievances of E-11 Residents

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ombudsperson, Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, has summoned the officers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and operators of 5 housing societies operating in E-11 with a workable solution to address the grievances of the sector’s residents.

The orders of the ombudsman came after residents of E-11 approached his office with complaints about the management of the housing societies.

As per details, the residents claimed that the societies lacked adequate civic facilities and that no action had been taken despite multiple complaints.

Furthermore, residents also complained about encroachments, poor maintenance of the sewerage system, lack of water facility, the narrowing of nullahs, and the poor state of the roads.

In return, a team led by registrar ombudsman, visited various areas of all housing societies in E-11, including;

  • National Police Foundation (NPF)
  • Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society
  • Pakistan Medical Cooperative Housing Society
  • Services Cooperative Housing Society
  • Multi-Professional Housing Society

The team heard from both residents and the management of the aforementioned societies while also investigating complaints, and discovered that the narrowing of drainage channels during the rainy season caused problems for residents.

According to the statement, it also inspected the site of a commercial plaza, due to which a double-lane road in a housing society had been reduced to a single lane. The residents also informed the team that power outages were common due to damaged electricity transformers.

It is worth noting that the majority of the aforementioned societies are operating without a valid NOC from the CDA.

Furthermore, there are over 70 unauthorized commercial and apartment buildings in the sector that were built without CDA’s approval.
