The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially taken harsh action against illegal housing societies.
In the past, the CDA administration gave relevant authorities the order to conduct an investigation and compile a list of illegal housing societies that were still operating in the federal territories but made false claims to be legitimate.
CDA has now begun to take action against unapproved housing societies in Zones 3 and 4 of Islamabad, according to news posts on CDA social media.
This marked the beginning of the CDA’s campaign against unlicensed housing cooperatives. The offices of various housing organizations in both zones have reportedly been sealed, according to the officials.
Allegations of illegal plot purchases and sales as well as contravening the provisions of the 1960 CDA Ordinance Act are leveled against the housing developments.
These unapproved societies are also in violation of the ICT Building Control Regulation 2022 and ICT Zoning Regulation 1992.
More legal action will be taken against the bulk of these unlawful dwelling developments in accordance with CDA Ordinance MLR 63, MLR 82, Environmental Protection 2008, and Landscape Ordinance 5/4.
The Capital Development Authority will also pursue legal action against the projects’ owners.
In addition, the notification noted that CDA management has been advising the public to look out for these fraudulent schemes and to avoid investing in such housing projects.
Similarly, CDA urges the public to check the housing society’s NOC status on the official websites of administrative agencies before making any investments.
A society will only receive NOC after it meets the requirements of the administrative authorities. By checking the official website of CDA, citizens may quickly determine whether any housing project has received permission or not.
