FGEHA Fails to Allocate Plots in Park Road Housing Scheme

ISLAMABAD: Due to ongoing legal disputes and other Park Road Housing Scheme-related obstacles, the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has not yet assigned plots in the first and second categories (Cat-I & Cat-II) to employees of constitutional bodies.

The sources, however, informed that the Park Road Housing Scheme has allocated a certain number of plots for registered members of “Constitutional Bodies/Quota” by the explicitly allowed quota.

An official in the authority claimed that the problem had been settled and that they would get approval letters for the assignment of plots under the constitutional quota, shortly once the necessary legal procedures were finished.

In response to a query, the official stated that the Building Codes of Pakistan 2007 were developed by the Ministry of Housing and Works in conjunction with NESPAK, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), and other stakeholders.

He said that it was the responsibility of the relevant provincial governments and municipalities to implement the building codes.

According to the source, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was in charge of implementing the Building Codes in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

He stated that no requests for technical assistance and participation with PEC on standardizing Building Codes, and specifications for low-cost (affordable) housing units had been received from any quarter over the previous two years.
