The victim, identified as Muneeb, worked as a tailor in one of the shops within the building.

During the incident, he was sleeping inside the shop when the fire engulfed the premises.

The fire was reported in the afternoon on a public holiday when the markets were closed, causing a delay in its detection and allowing it to rapidly spread, as stated by the first responders.

To combat the blaze, Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi swiftly deployed eight fire tenders and special rescue vehicles to the scene.

The fire reportedly originated in shops located on the second and third floors of the commercial plazas.
