Former Rangers Soldier Among Suspects Arrested for DHA Shops Robberies

KARACHI: Karachi police have arrested three suspects, including a former Rangers man, on charges of robbing two mobile phone shops in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Waqar Ahmed, Mohammed Sadiq, and Mohammed Adil were arrested following an alleged encounter in Khayaban-i-Abbasi, Phase VII, in a wounded state.

According to officials, the 3 suspects were members of an inter-provincial gang, and more than 35 snatched cell phones were found in their possession.

In addition, their fourth accomplice, Inamullah, was arrested in Dera Ismail Khan.

The suspects were reportedly part of a notorious ‘Saraiki gang’ and had committed several robberies in DHA over the last two months.

In a recent robbery, the gang allegedly looted 55 expensive mobile phones worth over Rs. 10 million and Rs. 500,000 cash on March 12.

Another 27 cell phones, seven smartwatches, and cash were snatched from a mobile shop on Badar Commercial on February 12. The suspects have been taken into custody for further investigation.
