MANSEHRA: The Federal government has ordered the National Highway Authority (NHA) to clear the snow from the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road before the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday to facilitate tourists.
The move is aimed at reviving tourism in the Kaghan Valley, with the road being a vital link between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The road has been closed since November due to heavy snowfall, causing inconvenience to tourists.
Sardar Shahjehan Yousuf, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM), revealed that NHA had been given a deadline of April to clear the road. However, the prime minister directed the authority to complete the task a month earlier.
Moreover, the premier has also instructed the NHA to expedite the process of re-carpeting the Karakoram Highway from Qalanderabad (Abbottabad) to Shinkari (Mansehra).
The decision is part of the government’s efforts to promote tourism in the country, which has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The SAPM emphasized the need for the government to take immediate steps to facilitate tourists and provide them with a comfortable and safe travel experience.
Furthermore, the government’s initiatives to improve infrastructure and road networks are expected to attract more tourists to the scenic Kaghan Valley and other popular tourist destinations in Pakistan.
