PUNJAB: During a meeting with Akhuwat’s founder Dr. Amjad Saqib, Chief Minister Punjab, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi stated that the government would work with Akhuwat to help low-income people realize their dream of owning a home.
The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency was given permission by the CM to renew the contract between the Punjab government and Akhuwat for an additional 800 million rupees.
The CM declared that the microfinance organization Akhuwat would lend money to those in need so they could build homes, adding that giving flood victims a roof over their heads is a priority and that loans will be granted for the construction of houses in flood-affected areas on a priority basis.
Founder Akhuwat claimed that loans made through Akhuwat to 2.5 million families have been fully recovered. He said that CM’s passion for solving the problems of the common man was commendable.
The meeting was also attended by Provincial Minister Mian Mehmood-ul-Rashid, Principal Secretary to CM, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, and the Secretary of the housing department.
