Governor Emphasizes Importance of Green Infrastructure in Road Development

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali, accompanied by Provincial Minister Sawak Nazir, inaugurated the Detour Road in Hayatabad on Wednesday.

The governor also oversaw the planting of trees and the installation of street lights along the road to enhance the convenience of the local population.

The construction of the three-kilometer Detour Road aims to provide easy access for heavy transport to Afghanistan while also facilitating local transportation.

Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) officials briefed about the project, highlighting its benefits for commercial traffic and the resolution of traffic issues in Hayatabad.

Governor Ghulam Ali emphasized the need to plant trees along the road. He stressed that this initiative would not only enhance the road’s aesthetics but also contribute to a greener environment.

Besides, he also urged for the incorporation of mandatory tree planting in house construction, drawing inspiration from practices in foreign countries where trees play a vital role in improving the environment.

Additionally, the Governor commended the caretaker provincial government for its efforts in providing relief to the people and urged them to promptly address public road and highway-related issues.

He highlighted the cooperation between the federal and provincial governments, noting that funds amounting to Rs. 333 billion would be released by the federation to address the economic challenges of the province.
