Governor Punjab Urges to Help Flood Affectees

LAHORE: The governor of Punjab, Muhammad Balighur Rehman, has stated that it is critical to provide assistance to those who experienced trauma as a result of the recent flash flood, which devastated several areas of the province.

The governor presided over a meeting of vice-chancellors from various public universities regarding the rehabilitation of flood victims and expressed the need to assist people in overcoming emotional and psychological trauma.

“Those who saw their loved ones swept away by the flood waves and their homes and animals being washed away are going through the deepest mental pain,” the governor highlighted.

Furthermore, Dr. Amjad Saqib, the head of the Akhuwat Foundation urged institutions to get involved in addressing the psychological and emotional problems that the flood victims were experiencing after flash floods.

Besides, he also praised the relief efforts made by universities in the public and private sectors and advised vice chancellors, faculty, and students to continue helping flood victims.

The officials decided to launch a pilot program for students studying psychology, sociology, and social work so that they could do research on the psychological and emotional issues faced by flood victims and aid in their trauma recovery.
