Green Line Train to Hit Islamabad-Karachi Track Soon

ISLAMABAD: To better facilitate passengers and yield income for the financially ill department, Pakistan Railways is prepared to begin Green Line Passenger Train operations from Islamabad to Karachi in mid-January.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Railways, the train is made up of two AC parlors, five AC business coaches, six AC standard coaches, and four to five economy-class coaches.

He said the decision was taken on the directives of Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique who wanted the best arrangements for the Green Line passenger train for travelers.

The official added that the minister also instructed the officials to cut the Green Line’s journey time from Lahore to Karachi to under 20 hours to win back the passengers’ trust.

Furthermore, it has also been determined to offer the greatest travel amenities possible aboard the Green Line train, including the supply of high-quality cuisine and maintaining a reasonable ticket price.

In addition, a separate LCD will be put in each seat of the AC Parlor so that guests may watch their favorite movies using headphones, he continued.

It is important to note that the Green Line Train was supposed to begin service on December 20 of last year, but owing to various financial obstacles, it would now begin service in mid-January.

He said that if services of the private sector were hired under a fast-track policy, the hygiene conditions at stations and in trains could be improved which would also restore the confidence of passengers in the department.

The sources also claimed that the minister ordered speeding up the efforts to implement a strategy that would provide consistency to the layout and signboards of the stalls at the main railway stations.
