ICCI Chief Advocates Upgrading G-11 Markaz

ISLAMABAD: Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, the President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), has called upon the CDA to develop G-11 Markaz as a model market that would serve as a hub for promoting trade activities.

Bakhtawari highlighted ICCI’s collaboration with CDA to enhance market development and conveyed that various market-related issues have been officially communicated to the Chairman of CDA for resolution.

He assured that ICCI would extend cooperation to the Traders Welfare Association of G-11 Markaz to address the crucial concerns of its members.

These remarks were made during Bakhtawari’s visit to G-11 Markaz, where he interacted with the newly elected office bearers of the Market Association along with an ICCI delegation.

Former ICCI President and Secretary General of United Business Group (UBG), Zafar Bakhtawari, emphasized the vital role played by Office Bearers of Market Associations in resolving traders’ issues.

Acknowledging their dedication, he noted their willingness to prioritize traders’ interests over personal responsibilities.

He mentioned that ICCI has organized an award ceremony in recognition of their significant contributions, where notable figures like former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf participated as chief guests.

Bakhtawari underscored ICCI’s continued commitment to honoring the role of Market Association Office Bearers in the future as well.

Naeem Akhtar Awan, President, and Farrukh Khan, Secretary General of Traders Welfare Association G-11 Markaz, Islamabad, drew attention to the lack of basic facilities due to the negligence of CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

They stressed the urgent need for amenities such as parking facilities, road carpeting, footpath repairs, water filtration plant installation, and construction of public toilets in G-11 Markaz to alleviate traders’ challenges.

Chaudhry Aftab Gujjar, Group Leader, extended a warm welcome to the ICCI delegation during their visit to the market.

Gujjar lauded the contributions of Zafar Bakhtawari and Ahsan Bakhtawari, emphasizing their positive impact on the business community.

The ICCI delegation included Raja Muhammad Imtiaz, Khalid Chaudhry, Saifur Rahman Khan, Rao Faisal, Zafar Gujjar, Nasir Chaudhry, Chaudhry Irfan, Zarif Khan, Zia Chaudhry, Waseem Chaudhry, and others.

  1. 1. Broken / damage steps of Marble/granite staircases to basement/ upper should be repaired to avoid risks.
    2. Seating benches should be erected on various points on walking corridors/ footpaths for senior citizens.
    3. Double parking or middle parking at parking slots near Mall should be discouraged and restricted.
    4. Upper floors corridors area should be cleared of cooking kitchens occupied by restaurants.
    5. Paid parking meters should be installed in parking lots so that to overcome the problem
    traffic congestions into the streets in front of shops and offices.
    6. A giant mall similarly to Carrefour type should be built to where every thing should be available where electronics items,household items, furniture, fresh fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, bakery items, freezers, and meat shop under one roof.
    7. Due to shortsge of parking space lots and with the high volume of cars traffic entering the Markaz a multi-storey parking is imminent and should be constructed with paid parking.

      I have observed that we have lot of space for parking in G-11 Markaz..But as you know some parking area inside the Markaz are occupied by Car dealers.

      Sensation and cleanliness is very poor.Even some time when you enter from the front side of the Markaz you will find garbage everywhere.Smell coming out of Main holes and Market is stinking.
      Beggars in shape of children and Elderly people are everywhere.
      These issues should be addressed and resolved on priority basis.

  2. It’s a unique idea which revolutionised the business model in the locality. This will not only increase business activities but also creates a chain of new jobs which will engage young generation.

    However as per our studies such types of business models become failed or lost their values due to non availability of financials
    I suggest that this should be governed by a trust business model which will look after its maintenance and upgradation

  3. Please cover the gutter side grill they all are broken completely and tell the sweepers collect garbage of all sides of every streets.
    Maintain grass and trees they are everywhere but not maintained.

    Also maintain the grass and trees so that they increase the beauty.
