RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has taken decisive action against unauthorized commercial construction following the directives of Director General Saif Anwar Jappa.
An enforcement operation was conducted, resulting in the sealing of a building on Kallar Syedan Road, opposite the PSO petrol pump in Moza Panjgran, Rawalpindi.
The enforcement squad, consisting of the building control deputy director, building control assistant director, building inspectors, and other team members, collaborated with assistance from the Rawat police team.
As per the details, the operation was carried out under the legal provisions of Section 39 of the Punjab Development of Cities (PDC) Act 1976, specifically targeting illegal commercial constructions.
According to an RDA spokesperson, prior notifications had been issued to the property owners identified as Munir and Jumma Khan.
These owners were found to have breached the approved building plans, violating both the PDC Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.
Besides, the building in question was also constructed without securing the required approvals, thus falling under the category of illicit commercial construction.
The RDA Director General has further directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to intensify efforts against encroachments and take stringent action as necessary.
