Illegal Occupation of Railway Land Reported to NA Standing Committee

BAHAWALPUR: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways was informed that over 2,236 acres of railway land in the Multan Division were still illegally occupied for residential, commercial, and agricultural purposes.

The committee, led by MNA Muhammad Moeen Wattoo, reiterated its previous directive for removing commercial encroachments on railway land and instructed the Ministry of Railways, the Director-General of Property and Land, and the legal directorate to take legal action to vacate these stay orders.

The Multan Division Superintendent reported that 24 acres of land, including 9.10 acres of commercial land, had been recovered from land grabbers during the 2021-22 fiscal year.

The Ministry of Railways was given two and a half months to vacate the encroached land.
