LAHORE: The Local Government Minister, Ibrahim Murad, emphasized that a city’s traffic and parking system reflects the discipline of its citizens.
To align with developed countries, he called for the development of a strategic plan to organize the parking system in Lahore.
This statement came during a meeting held on Wednesday to assess the current parking facilities in the city.
As per the details, the Chief Executive Officer of Lahore Parking Company, Bilal Feroze, and other relevant officials were present at the meeting.
Minister Ibrahim Murad instructed that the board of directors of Lahore Parking Company should be promptly finalized to enable important decision-making regarding parking facilities in the city.
He emphasized the need for strict action against illegal parking sites that impede smooth traffic flow and fail to deposit the generated revenue, causing losses to the national exchequer.
Murad further directed the exploration of various proposals to reorganize the parking system, including the computerization and outsourcing of the parking company.
He also ordered an inquiry into complaints regarding irregularities in the affairs of the Lahore Parking Company.
Taking note of five malfunctioning computerized rotary machines used for parking in Lahore, the minister requested a report from the CEO of Lahore Parking Company to identify the causes.
