KOHAT: In a coordinated anti-encroachment operation on Thursday, representatives from the administration and other agencies retrieved 204 Kanal land belonging to the irrigation department that was being used to build a housing society.
According to the sources, heavy equipment was utilized to destroy the plotting by additional deputy commissioner Bashir Ahmed, together with representatives from the irrigation and tax agencies, and the tehsil municipal administration.
The revenue officers assessed that the retrieved property was worth over Rs. 1.20 billion and following its recovery from the mafia, the land was given to the irrigation department.
The Deputy Commissioner remarked that no one would be permitted to occupy the state-owned land and all these mafias would be dealt with according to the law.
In a similar vein, the Railways administration of Peshawar also seized 2.4 acres of commercial land near City Railways Station as part of its anti-encroachment campaign which is valued at more than Rs. 150 million.
