Islamabad District Administration Bans Sale and Purchase of CDA-Acquired Land Through Stamp Papers

ISLAMABAD: The district administration of the capital city has banned the sale and purchase of acquired land of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) through stamp papers to prevent illegal land sales and surging rehabilitation claims.

The CDA had requested the district administration to secure their authorized stamp vendors and ban the practice.

As per the details, stamp vendors have also been warned by the additional deputy commissioner revenue of Islamabad to stop the practice immediately.

Otherwise, their licenses will be canceled, and legal action will be taken against them.

The CDA had acquired thousands of kanals of land for developing residential sectors and other purposes.

Still, it has been unable to provide complete compensation in most areas and lacks absolute possession of the acquired land.

The government halts mutations once the acquisition of a certain area is announced, and only authorized departments can sell or purchase the land.

However, local landlords have been selling their land through stamp papers, leading to illegal settlements across the city and creating third-party rights against the CDA.

Similarly, the completion of Margalla Avenue has put the adjoining under-developed sectors at risk of adverse possession.

The CDA had acquired the land years ago but has yet to start development work, and the situation in sectors D-13, E-13, and F-13 is worse, with private individuals occupying hundreds of kanals of land and building lavish villas without proper documentation, all due to the sale and purchase of land on stamp papers.

The Director Land CDA, Sidra Anwar, stated that selling and purchasing CDA’s acquired land on stamp papers is illegal and banned.

The director called for strict action against stamp vendors involved in such activities and for them to discourage the illegal sale and purchase of CDA-acquired land.
