ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have taken steps to increase the security of F-9 Park after a woman was raped by two armed men earlier this month.
More than 200 cameras installed at the park have been linked with the Safe City Authority’s database, and the number of officials patrolling the area has increased.
Additionally, a park manager has been appointed to ensure public safety. The Inspector General of Police, Akbar Nasir Khan, shared these developments during a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights.
The meeting was chaired by PTI leader Walid Iqbal, and CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal also briefed the committee.
CDA has allocated a budget of Rs100 million to ensure the safety and security of people in public places across the federal capital.
Additionally, the police are using modern technology to investigate the incident and apprehend the culprits.
IG Nasir has stated that the culprits will be arrested soon, and the committee will discuss the matter once they are apprehended, as decided by the chairman of the Senate panel.
