Islamabad to Get 13 New Routes for Orange and Red Line BRTs

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority, Capt (Rtd) Usman Younis, has announced 13 new routes for the Orange and Red Line BRTs in Islamabad.

He stated that CDA had formed a feasibility report for the procurement of the new buses for the new routes and that the contracts would soon be awarded for the bus stations and route markings.

In a statement, the chairman said that the development for routes was divided into 2 phases where 6 routes would be added in each phase.

According to the details, the following will be the proposed routes.

  • Route 1: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to Shifa International Hospital to Potohar Station Sector I-8 Markaz
  • Route 2: PIMS to the Secretariat, passing through Jinnah Super and Super Market
  • Route 3: Sector G7, G6, Melody Market, Aabpara, and NADRA will be linked to PIMS
  • Route 4: F-11 to Red Line Metro Station F-8.
  • Route 5: PIMS route 5 will be connecting sectors G-8, G-9, G-10, and G-11
  • Route 6: Abpara to Taramri Chowk via Park Road
  • Route 7: From Police Foundation to the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Red Line Metro Station
  • Route 8: From D-12 to the Orange Line Metro at G-10
  • Route 9: Will stretch between F-11 and F-8
  • Route 10: From service coverage to rural areas from Nilore to Khanna Bridge
  • Route 11: From Chungi No 26 to provide transportation for residents of the B-17 sector
  • Route 12: Faizabad to Pirwadahai, once IJP road is completely developed

However, the 13th route has not been shared yet.

Chairman also added that PIMS would be the hub for the new routes connecting the service to the Red and Orange Line Metro lines.
