KARACHI: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has initiated an anti-encroachment campaign in the city and has demolished illegal structures in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
According to official sources, KDA Director General, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, initiated the operation against unauthorized buildings and encroachments in the city at the direction of the Supreme Court.
Furthermore, the KDA anti-encroachment staff responded to resident complaints by launching an anti-encroachment operation in Block 6 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar and demolishing structures and a boundary wall that had been built unlawfully on public property.
Previously, the Sindh High Court ordered the Deputy Commissioner of District East to submit a compliance report regarding the failure to remove encroachments in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
A division bench in this regard, led by Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, took notice of the concerned authorities to remove encroachments despite court orders while hearing an application from allottees from KDA block 6 regarding non-compliance with a court order.
