KDA Issues Warnings for Illegal Commercial Use of Residential Properties

KARACHI: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has issued warnings to the owners of residential plots in Clifton who are using their properties for commercial activities.

In a statement, the KDA reported that it had identified 172 plots where commercial activities were taking place and issued notices to the owners for violating the terms of their lease deeds.

The activities were taking place on 38 plots in Block 1, 45 plots in Block 2, 23 in Block 4, 37 in Block 5, 10 each in Block 7, and Block 8 and 15 in Block 9.

The owners have been given seven days to stop these commercial activities and use their plots only for residential purposes.

They have also been given two weeks to visit the Director of Land’s office with their original documents.

The Supreme Court has directed the authorities to seal and demolish properties that violate the lease agreements and city master plan, and imposed fines and jail time as punishment for violators.
