KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has initiated an anti-encroachment operation along the banks of Gujjar Nullah.
According to sources, the operation commenced on Friday and is set to continue until the following Saturday.
The primary objective of this endeavor is to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater, mitigating the risk of urban flooding and safeguarding the locals.
Tariq Khan, Deputy Director of the anti-encroachment department, stated that more than 100 irregular structures were demolished on the first day alone.
He also clarified that no residential houses have been affected thus far.
It is worth noting that the demolition process adheres to demarcations established through a collaborative survey conducted by KMC’s Department of Katchi Abadis and the FWO.
