‘Strict Measures’ in Place to Monitor E-11 Nullah Flooding

The district government has been monitoring the flooding of E-11’s nullah constantly since last year’s monsoon season caused havoc that compromised the loss of lives and property.

According to the information, the administration has already constructed a temporary relief camp, delegated staff from the local authority’s cleanliness department, installed mobile cranes, and created a control room to oversee the level of water in the nullah.

To maintain the flow of water in the nullah, sanitation staff is regularly clearing away tree branches, trash, and other wastes. In case of an emergency, there is heavy equipment on the site ready to work.

The Sanitation Directorate of Capital Development Authority stated that due to the building of the housing society, the nullah on the E-12/D-12 side was covered and shrunk.

After about 200 meters, it joins another tiny stream coming from the D-11 side, causing a bottleneck and forcing the water to pour out.

It is to mention here that surging water from an overflowing nullah last year shattered the back wall of a house and reached the basement, killing a lady and her kid in an unauthorized housing society of E-11.
