LAHORE: In a continued drive against non-compliance with building regulations and illicit commercial operations, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) took significant action in various parts of the city on Wednesday.
In an extensive operation led by Chief Town Planner-II Azhar Ali, with support from enforcement teams, heavy machinery, and the police, numerous buildings were either sealed or demolished. These establishments, located in areas including Johar Town, Nawab Town, Shan Bhatti Road, and Raiwind Road, were targeted for violating bylaws and unauthorized commercial activities.
Prominent among the establishments affected were the Café Rock and a local market in Nawab Town, Biryani Master in Ali Town, Bismillah Real Estate on Shan Bhatti Road, and Timmis Restaurant in Johar Town. In a significant move, the LDA also sealed the well-known ice cream outlet, Baskin Robbins, in Johar Town, citing the illegal commercial use of the property.
LDA officials confirmed that prior to this operation, several notices were issued to the property owners, notifying them of their contraventions and urging them to comply with the regulations.
Following the operation, Commissioner Lahore and LDA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa reiterated their commitment to upholding the law. They issued directives for sustained and unbiased crackdowns against encroachments, non-adherence to building bylaws, and unauthorized commercial activities.
Residents are urged to familiarize themselves with LDA regulations to avoid potential inconveniences in the future.
