RAWALPINDI: In a recent move to curb the promotion and development of unauthorized housing projects, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has filed First Information Reports (FIRs) against five housing schemes. These projects were found to be selling plots without acquiring the necessary Non-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the RDA.
The schemes in question include Khan Builders in Mouza Chahan, Heaven Dave in Mouza Misriot, Al-Imran Homes located on Chakri Road at Mouza Sihal, Cargo Village near the new Islamabad International Airport in Mouza Katarian, and Theme Park View on the Chontra to Chak Beli Khan Link road in Mouza Sukho.
The RDA’s spokesperson shared that the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) directorate is already pursuing legal remedies against the illegal advertisements and promotions of these schemes. He further clarified that notices were duly served to these schemes before FIRs were lodged.
The general public has been alerted by the RDA to refrain from investing in such schemes that lack proper NOCs. The RDA has explicitly mentioned that all types of marketing, advertising, and development efforts without the mandatory NOC within RDA’s jurisdiction are deemed illegal.
Additionally, the authorities have urged the sponsors of these projects to immediately halt all promotional activities and reach out to the RDA to secure the necessary approvals as per the legal framework, failing which they will face strict legal consequences.
Highlighting the gravity of the issue, the RDA official remarked that they’ve communicated with several governmental bodies, including the Governor State Bank of Pakistan, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Rawalpindi, FIA Cyber Crime in Islamabad, and others, to monitor and halt the operations of these illegal schemes.
Furthermore, the RDA has taken notice of misleading claims made by some developers, who assert they possess the required NOCs. The false claims can be validated by videos they’ve disseminated on platforms like YouTube. In response, the RDA’s director general has instructed the MP&TE Directorate to rigorously deal with all unauthorized housing ventures and associated illegal activities.
The public is advised to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of housing schemes before making any investments.
