Lahore’s Historic Nasser Bagh Park Blossoms with PHA’s Efforts

LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has announced that the extensive horticultural and maintenance efforts to restore Nasser Bagh, a historical park located on The Mall, are now in their final stages.

Nasser Bagh, nestled between Lower Mall and Katchery Road, is a beloved green space dating back to the British era.

It shares its surroundings with Government College University, Punjab University (old campus), and the Town Hall, providing a peaceful escape for residents from the urban hustle and bustle.

The park, also known as Band Stand Garden due to its history of hosting military band performances during British rule, has long needed rejuvenation, as per requests from nearby residents.

In response to public demand, the PHA has embarked on a comprehensive restoration project.

This project includes planting lush green grass, creating vibrant flower beds, and installing floodlights to enhance the park’s aesthetic appeal.

Additionally, various repair and maintenance tasks have been undertaken across the park’s sprawling 100 kanal.

One of the key highlights of the restoration is the revitalization of the park’s iconic fountain. Moreover, the authorities have taken proactive measures against dengue by implementing anti-larva treatments within the park.

To offer visitors a fresh and open experience, the boundary wall surrounding Nasser Bagh has been removed, further enhancing its visual appeal.

In a separate effort to beautify the area, PHA has completed the refurbishment of The Mall, a historic avenue in Lahore.

This initiative includes planting grass along a six-kilometer-long and 30-foot-wide stretch from Charing Cross to the Mian Mir Bridge.

PHA is also adding more trees and colorful flowerbeds along the canal in preparation for the winter season. These flowerbeds will be elevated for better visibility.
