Lahore’s ‘Sheranwala Gate Flyover’ is Set to Launch Soon

LAHORE: The Rs. 5 billion Sheranwala Gate Flyover infrastructural development project is near completion, allowing for its official launch by the end of this month.

The overhead bridge, now known as the Data Gang Bakhsh bridge, was the project’s main component and had already been made traffic-friendly in May of this year.

“Nearly 99 percent of the work has been accomplished, we are hoping to officially inaugurate it before the end of this month,” said,” Iqrar Hussain, Project Director LDA.

The project’s construction work began in June of last year and was scheduled to be completed on March 18. However, several obstacles such as delays in land acquisition in the tire market and other regions have slowed the project’s progress.

The four-lane flyover with ramps measures 1,000 meters in length and 17 meters in width, with 19 spans.

The flyover being constructed consists of 189 piles, 20 pile tops, 18 piers, two abutments, and 19 deck slabs and retaining walls.

As per the estimates, the project is expected to save Rs. 86 million, Rs. 163 million, and Rs. 184 million in annual fuel costs, vehicle operating costs, and travel time, respectively.

The recent torrential monsoon spell is one of the key factors contributing to the delay in finishing at-grade construction work, the LDA officer said.

The remaining walkway construction will be finished by the end of this month, he added.
