PM Shehbaz Sharif Inaugurates Rawal Dam Flyover

ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the Rawal Dam flyover in Islamabad.

In his remarks during the occasion, the premier praised the enthusiasm that went into the timely completion of the project.

The Prime Minister also praised DG FWO for his tireless efforts to complete this delayed project in a matter of months.

He also praised Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Amir Ali Ahmed, who worked efficiently to have this flyover completed in a short period of time.

“It is a positive omen that construction on the flyover has been accelerated, and he hopes that all Pakistanis would work in the same way,” he added.

It is important to note here that the former contractors discontinued working on the project in March 2022 owing to price increases.

As a result, the decision to hand over the project to FWO was made during PM’s visit.

Following a briefing, he opted to replace the contractor with the directive to begin construction within 72 hours.

The flyover connects three neighborhoods: Chak Shehzad, Serena Chowk, and Faizabad.

The original track was designed for 20,000 cars, but as time passed, the number of motors climbed to almost 100,000, posing problems for them.

As a result, the new flyover track is intended to alleviate traffic congestion on the previous road, where around 150,000 cars move every day on average.
