Lawyers Petition PHC Against Misleading Promotions of Housing Scheme

PESHAWAR: Three senior lawyers have taken legal action by filing a petition in the Peshawar High Court against an alleged deceptive publicity campaign orchestrated by a proposed private housing scheme.

The lawyers asserted that the management of the housing scheme has been engaging in a massive publicity effort with the intent to mislead the general public.

According to sources, the joint petition has been submitted by Mohammad Ayaz Khan, a former general secretary of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association, along with Sagheer Ahmad and Saadatullah Khan.

In their plea to the high court, the lawyers are seeking direct intervention from the government entities, including the tehsil municipal offices and deputy commissioners of Peshawar and Charsadda, to halt the housing scheme’s management from furthering their publicity campaign.

Furthermore, the petitioners have requested the court to prevent the tehsil municipal officer of Charsadda from issuing any No Objection Certificate (NOC) under undue pressure from the housing scheme without adhering to the necessary legal prerequisites.

The lawyers elaborated that they have consistently been filing petitions against what they deem as ‘illegal’ housing societies or schemes, with some of their petitions still awaiting resolution within the high court.

Moreover, the petitioners expressed that upon learning of the grand claims made by the ‘City Housing Peshawar management about the establishment of their housing society, they took the initiative to approach the relevant authorities.

As per the claim, they aimed to acquire pertinent documentation related to the project.

However, their requests for relevant documents were met with no response from the authorities.

Highlighting their concerns, the lawyers highlighted that the management of the housing scheme has launched an extensive media campaign spanning television channels, social media platforms, newspapers, and billboards across Peshawar and various other cities.

The petitioners contend that this publicity campaign has been initiated without adhering to the necessary legal formalities, raising suspicions of deceptive practices.
