LDA Initiates Approval Process for Long-Pending Layout Designs of Housing Societies

LAHORE: After nearly three decades of delay, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has finally initiated the approval process for various layout designs of 31 cooperative housing societies.

This breakthrough brings relief to the members of these societies who have been facing difficulties in obtaining approvals for their house plans from the LDA.

In a statement issued on Sunday, a spokesman for the ombudsman’s office highlighted the negligence of the provincial cooperatives department in approving the layout designs of these cooperative housing societies.

The matter came to light during the hearing of a complaint filed by Muhammad Nasir Khan.

Acting swiftly, Ombudsman Azam Suleman Khan summoned the Director General of the Lahore Development Authority and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to his office to address the issue.

The ombudsman directed them to expedite the approval process for the layout plans of the concerned cooperative housing societies by the rules and regulations.

Besides, the objective of this initiative is to ensure the timely approval of house and residence maps for society members by the LDA.

To tackle these issues, the DG LDA has established a dedicated committee, as explained by the spokesman.
