LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started internal scrutiny of its land record to counter the frauds of double compensation/exemption. According to sources, many complaints related to double compensation/exemption were pending in the LDA.
The details suggest that the scrutiny will give special attention to the plots given in exchange in Johar Town.
It is worth noting that the LDA recently faced embarrassment when one of its directors and several other officers were caught by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for allotting 27 plots on a bogus file.
Following the incident, the ACE wrote a letter to the Chief Town Planner (CTP) to submit the record of plots exchanged from 2018 to 2023.
The Director General of LDA has formulated a committee to scrutinize the files being processed and not part of the inventory list of 2017.
Furthermore, the committee will give clear recommendations regarding the inclusion of files in the inventory list as per their determined sanctity/genuineness.
The committee members include LDA’s Director IT Basit Qamar, Director Housing-VII Shahid Naeem, Director Record Management Ms. Humaira Sharif, Deputy Director of Land Acquisition Uzair Bin Tariq, Deputy Director Housing-VI Jehangir Iqbal Mayo, Assistant Director Accounts Zahid Siddique.
