LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has taken significant actions within its ranks, removing the Chief Town Planner (CTP), a BS-20 officer, from his position and making him Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
According to sources, this move came amidst allegations of corruption and a questionable reputation.
The decision to remove the CTP was influenced by reports of corruption and a lack of a good reputation.
Moreover, the LDA’s management has also made structural changes within the town planning department, leading to several director-level transfers.
It is relevant to note that the CTP’s role within the LDA is crucial as it deals with the oversight of building control in Lahore.
This position involves the approval and regulation of maps, drawings, and plans for residential and commercial buildings, which can sometimes involve financial gains.
Due to the significance of this position, the CTP’s performance is closely monitored by higher authorities, including the special branch and management.
The transfer of the CTP and other key staff members was enacted immediately, according to an official notification issued by the LDA.
The details also suggest that these changes are part of broader restructuring efforts within the LDA, including the bifurcation of the Town Planning (TP) wing into TP-1 and TP-2.
While these actions aim to improve transparency and accountability within the LDA, they also raise questions about the management and oversight of key positions within the organization.
